4 Reasons You Should Use Tools To Build Your MLM Business

So you’re fired up about your MLM business and you’re just about to call everyone you know to tell them about your opportunity. Before you do (and blow your entire market out of the water), I want to encourage you to read this whole post. In it, I’m going to cover why you should use tools to build your business, and why you personally should not be the one explaining anything to people.

So Why Should You Use Tools To Build Your MLM Business?

Reason #1 – Tools Take The Pressure Off You To Know Everything

Chances are, your company has spent tens of thousands of dollars creating professional tools for you to use while building your business. Examples of tools are brochures, websites, DVDs, videos, short pre-recorded sizzle calls, magazines and sample packets (if your company is selling products instead of services). Instead of you stuttering over your words to try to explain your company’s products and compensation plan, you can simply direct prospects to a professionally produced video, or hand them a DVD that explains everything for you.

Think about this: The minute you sign up for your company, you can turn around and send people a link or hand people a DVD. This is much simpler than trying to explain everything yourself, which you obviously couldn’t do right after signing up. This is a major clue. Why? Because if you want your team to get into momentum fast, then putting tools in their hands is the way to go. If you want your business to move at a snail’s pace, try to train every single person to know everything before they talk to anyone about their business.

Reason #2 – You’ll Sponsor Way More People With Tools

Whether you know it or not, whenever you approach someone about your business the question going on inside their head is “Can I do this?”. If all you did was send them a tool, they’ll see right out of the gate that all they have to do is send the very same tool to people they know. But imagine if you broke down every detail of your business to them. You might be good and think you’re impressing them with how smooth you are and how much you know. But guess what? What they are telling themselves is “There’s absolutely no way I can do this! I have to learn and explain all this information. What if someone asks me a question I can’t answer? I’m not doing this!”. Using third party tools can potentially empower your new people to approach people with less fear, and as a leader that’s what you want.

Reason #3 – It Increases Duplication In Your Business

As a kid, I used to play a game called “Telephone” where one person would whisper something to someone and that person would whisper what was told to him to someone else. By the time the 10th person in the group got the message, it sounded nothing like the original message. That’s exactly how your business works, if you aren’t using tools. By using tools like DVDs, videos, magazines, etc., everyone is giving the same message and the prospects are all hearing the same thing. Duplication increases ten-fold when tools are being leveraged by everyone in your team.

Reason #4 – Tools Allow You To Leverage Your Time And Efforts

Think about this example for a minute: Let’s say you called 10 people today, and put them in front of your company’s Sizzle Video, or maybe you gave them your company’s DVD tool. In an ideal situation, you’ll have 10 people today being introduced to your company and all you did was spend an hour or so to call them. Now what would that scenario look like if you weren’t leveraging tools? You would have to call and set up a time with all 10 people to sit down and explain everything yourself. I’m not saying that it’s wrong to do that but you’ll be working much harder, when you could be working smarter. Leveraging your time and efforts is very important, especially as your team grows and you have to manage other reps. You’ll have less time to sponsor people personally so working smart will become critical, or else you’ll slow down your personal sponsoring, which is the first step to killing your business and your momentum.
