Attraction Marketing 101 – Your Own Self-branded Capture Page for your MLM business (Pt. II)

In my last article I went over the importance of creating your own lead capture page and one that brands “You” with your MLM business (as opposed to sending traffic to your MLM’s replicated landing page). The capture page is a webpage designed to generate leads by "capturing" your visitor's name and email address. This might take a little extra effort at the beginning, but remember that you are now building YOUR enterprise! It will take more effort, but it will pay you much more than simply building on top of someone else's business. Ultimately, you have two options: a) Plug into a Turnkey Self-branded Attraction Marketing System that provides customizable landing pages; or b) Create Your Own Capture Page.

As I mentioned earlier, I urge you to do your research and create a swipe file with all of your favourite landing pages on the Internet and find one that you really like. Now, remember we are talking about self-branding here, but you can still use someone else’s page as a TEMPLATE to build on. If you have not done so already, I suggest you download a free HTML editor, such as NVU (now called: KompoZer), or you can use your own software (such as Microsoft’s ‘FrontPage’). To begin, simply right click on the capture page (for Window’s Internet Explorer) or select View from drop down tabs (for Mozilla Firefox) and chose “View Source” or “Page Source”. This will open the HTML Source Code for that website page. A text file will open with all of the HTML code; now Press Ctl-A (Select All) and then Ctl-C (Copy) and then close the Page Source file. Next, open your HTML editor (NVU works much like a Microsoft Word document) and you just need to select the Source tab in the editor. If there is any default code showing be sure to delete that so you can start with a fresh “canvas”. Just press Ctl-V or Paste all the code you just copied from that capture page. If you want to be sure that you have copied it correctly, just chose the Normal view tab and it will give you a WYSIWYG display of that page. All you need to do now is start editing to customize and personalize the content for your own material (headings, sub-headings, font size and color, etc.). Keep it in the Normal view so you can be sure to see as it would appear. If you have created a YouTube (or Viddler) video, you would edit that portion via the Source tab and use the “Embed” code from YouTube and copy-paste this into the section on your page where you want the video to appear (note if there is an existing video from the landing page you copied, you’ll want to replace the source code between and including the bracketed "form" code with your own HTML lead form code that you get from your own Autoresponder (e.g. I highly recommend AWeber).

You've just created your own content, selling yourself and your product with your OWN capture page. The last step is to upload your Source content with your web hosting provider (e.g. GoDaddy). Save your HTML file work in KompoZer, and then log into your GoDaddy account and chose your Hosting and Servers section and select My Hosting Account (basic hosting accounts are available for as little at $6.99/month). In the Control Panel, select 'Manage Account' to get into your Hosting Control Center in GoDaddy. The easiest way to upload your landing page source file is to scroll down to Content section and select 'FTP Client' so you can upload your files to your server. After the Flash program loads, there will be two columns shown - one with the Local System (your own computer's files) and the other with the Remote System/Your Website. All you do here is find your Capture Page HTML file in your MyDocuments, select it and then press the Double-Arrow icon between to move your file over to your Website. Lastly, to make this your Home page, you will need to change the file name (e.g. Capture123.html) to index.htm - you do that by selecting the file, then clicking the Edit icon and rename the file name (the Edit icon is just underneath the Remote System columns). Guess what, you have just created your own capture page! You can double-check by opening up a new browser tab and selecting your URL to see what it looks like. Congratulations!
