Stop Pushing Your Network Marketing Company

As I turn this topic over in my head, no matter how it comes out it seems like a rant. But here goes anyway. A lot of people turn to the internet to try to market there network marketing businesses after they have exhausted every other avenue that they have been taught by their uplines. The list of names that they were taught to build is quickly blown through. Although the three foot rule may be effective for the “Alpha Marketer”, its not a duplicable skill for the average person.

I call these tactics “ambush marketing” and as far as I’m concerned the person who accosts me on the street with a sales pitch I didn’t ask for is no better then the telemarketer calling me up in the middle of my day to give me a sales pitch that I didn’t ask for. I mean, it’s the same thing. I’m no more interested in your Network Marketing Business than I am satellite TV service.

The problem for a lot of marketers is that they bring the same tactics that didn’t work offline to their online marketing. I see people coming to traffic exchanges, social networking sites, email blasters, free classified ads and others all blasting ads to “join my business”. These messages only come across as a way to separate me from my money.

If I am going to spend my money to join your business, I want to have an of who you are. I need to know what’s in this for me. Are you going to sell me a website and disappear or are you going to be there to help me become successful? What makes your business different from all of the other businesses out there? Hint: it’s not the compensation plan or the product that you sell.

What I’m trying to say is that you’re going to have to switch your focus from pushing your product or service to pushing your own value as a leader. No one will follow you if they don’t believe you can help them succeed. So you have to find a way to increase your value as a leader. You need to learn the ins and outs of internet marketing and then take that knowledge and teach it to other people. What Zig Ziglar said really is true. “You can have everything you want if you just help enough other people get what they want.”

OK, so where do I start. If you are going to market on the internet you need to become familiar with the term “attraction marketing”. There are any number of places to get training in attraction marketing. Do a Google search for attraction marketing and you’ll get over 700,000 entries. That’s a great place to start. Find someone that you can learn from and start your education. Remember, an investment of time or money in your education will always pay off in the long run.
