Many MLM up-lines are not sales people and they learn the business on the fly. They bring in people by hard selling them and making the business look spectacular. The problem with this is that once they bring a prospect into the business, they abandon the individual.
There is a theme in MLM that says that if the person doesn't do anything in the first 30 days or so, it's time to move on to the next person. This was the old way of thinking about MLM prospects and it still is at play today.
What up-lines are missing is that these people are actually ones who could have the most potential if they are handled correctly and brought into the business well. They are the ones who probably need more attention in the beginning but who can move quickly to meet more people.
MLM should be about relationship building but unfortunately most people want to make money fast. If you build a relationship with the people you bring into your organization you will build a stronger foundation.
As an example, one MLM company has only four steps to success. They emphasize to people to follow those 4 steps, then teach their people how to duplicate the process. It's very simple. But many people in the organization do not follow the principle. Instead, they use the old way of doing MLM.
When they lose people in their organizations, they wonder why. It is simple. They did not build the relationship and they did not follow the process. MLM is a business that is built on people and their relationship with others. Even though a lot of it is done online, people still need some type of contact with others in order to build the business.
Most people do not know how to run MLM and they have to be taught. When you leave them after you have explained some of the beginning pieces, they will eventually leave the business. If you want to build an effective business, you have to network with your people on a regular basis.
MLM is a people to people business. When you treat your people well, they will repay the favor with their prospects. Whether you are selling soap, travel, herbal products or real estate it should be all about people. If you are in it for any other reason, your business will eventually fail.
