Pampered Chef Revealed

History:

Pampered Chef was founded in 1980 by a woman named Doris Christopher.

Doris was a former home economics and teacher, who wanted to return to the workforce after raising her children. She started selling high-quality kitchen tools through cooking demonstrations and began her company. The Pampered Chef, from the basement. The products gained popularity in the 1990's, even as many other party plan merchandisers were faltering due to changing lifestyles. It started its global presence with Canada in 1996.  It spread to Europe with the UK in 1999 ad Germany in 2000. The company was acquired in 2002 by Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway Corporation.  It recently opened up its doors to Mexico in 2009.

Currently, Pampered Chef is a global company that offers a line of kitchen tools, food products, and cookbooks aimed for preparing food in the home with a worldwide direct sales force over 60,000 to 950 corporate staff.  The company is currently headquartered in Addison, Illinois.  It operates in five countries, United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, and Mexico.

To Get Started:

There are a number of ways to become a Pampered Chef consultant. You can signup through a with another consultant.  You can also signup using the Pampered Chef website or you can all their 800 number.

Pampered Chef provides a starter kit.  Based on the information provided on their website, there are two starter kits.  There is the New Consultant Mini Kit, which currently cost $65.00.  The New Consultant Kit costs $155.00.  The kits provide catalogs, training materials, business management software, professional business supplies, and a tote to carry your products and catalogs to your shows.

Once you receive you kit, then you need to start training and selling. In the beginning you will more than likely attend some cooking shows with an experienced consultant in order to learn how to run your business.  After a number of shows, you schedule cooking shows and begin selling Pampered Chef products.

The Opportunity:

To make money in Pampered Chef requires you to do home shows.  During a show you are demonstrating the Pampered Chef products to show how they work and to explain the benefits of them.  You prepare a Pampered Chef recipe adn tell about every product that you use in the preparation.

Next step is to take orders from your attendees to your show.  After the show and while the guests are sampling your food that you just prepared, is when you take orders.  You then give the hostess a fews days to collect the orders and once this is complete, have those orders turned into you.

Once you get those orders, you then send Pampered Chef the oder forms and they will then ship the products to your customers.  The only thing you need to do next is to collect the money.  You are paid a percentage of the sales at each party.  You also earn a percentage of what the people you have created sell.  The unusual thing about the Pampered Chef compensation plan is that the more people you have on your team, the less money you make off each of the individuals.  Thus, the primary way of generating an income with Pampered Chef is to continue to sell.

Here is the breakdown of the compensation plan:

Monthly Commissionable Sales:

$4,000 and over  earn a commission of 25%
$2,500 - $3,999  earn a commission of 24%
$1,250 - $2,499  earn a commisson of 23%
$750    - $1,249  earn a commission of 22%
$1       - $749     earn a commission of 20%

Basically, your commission rate increases by 2% once you reach $15, 000 in career sales.  You commission rate increases up to 31% when you build a team and promote.

Pampered Chef is a good retail business.  If you don't mind having to do presentations and selling, then this is the business for you.  Generating a residual income may be more difficult because you are paid less as you get more people to join your Pampered Chef opportunity.   I suggest you weigh you options, build a business selling or build a business and generate residual income, and make a decision on whether you feel this is the business opportunity for you.

One last thing to consider is to use a marketing system.  A marketing system can be beneficial because it will not only allow you to connect with more people using the internet, but it will also instill within you marketing skills.

A business cannot grow unless you know how to market.  Marketing is the way business owners share with others their products or their opportunity.  A marketing system can teach you how to market and while you are learning, you can also generate income to help pay for your marketing.

A marketing system will also teach you how to market "YOU". YOU are the one variable that separates your business from everyone else's because there is only one of you. Ultimately, it is going to be YOU that attracts customers to your business.  The reason is people join people, not businesses. A marketing system will train you to build your "YOU Inc." business and allow you to achieve success in Pampered Chef much more quickly.
